GBHL Elections – Your League Needs You!

The Great British Hobbit League’s Management Committee is a voluntary fellowship of 11 members who take on the management and responsibility of the GBHL. They meet monthly to update the league’s rules, help TOs, deal with complaints, promote activities in the league, as well as tackling a kaleidoscope of other issues.

But, it is a not a dictatorship.

You could help shape the GBHL's future

Every two years the league’s management committee is dissolved and elections are held. Anyone keen on joining the committee is eligible to stand for election, but only Tournament Organisers and outgoing committee members can vote.

Committee roles include the following:

1. League Co-Ordinator (Big Boss)

2. Rankings Officer (Spreadsheet Maestro)

3. Treasurer (Money Man*)

4. League Secretary (Rule enforcer & meeting minuter)

5. Marketing Officer (Word typer and Social Poster)

6. Event Coordinator (Calendar Wrangler)

7. Regional Reps for Scotland, NI & ROI; North England, Central, South East and South West Regions.

   
   

Although current committee members are eligible to stand for election again, we would STRONGLY urge passionate (and vocal!) members of the community to step forward to take on responsibility and bring fresh ideas to the league.

Elections will be held later this year, and will require candidates to submit a manifesto for what they hope to bring to the role. There will be a level of engagement required in the election, as TOs are able to question candidates via online hustings (essentially Facebook threads).

Particularly dedicated individuals may even be interested in reading the Minutes for this year’s meetings. They are shared on the Tournament Organiser Committee page.
