Hall of Fame

It began with the forging of the GBHL long ago back in 2013. And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend. Legend became myth. Until, when chance came, it was found again by the GBHL!

Over the years players across the GBHL have battled out to win GBHL events, hobbyists have created stunning armies based off Tolkien’s works, Tournament Organisers (TOs) have run incredible events and heroes of the community have worked tirelessly to support & promote our great game.

These pages aim to keep track of these incredible achievements and give these people the long lasting recognition they deserve.

TO Records

Tournament Organisers (TOs) are the beating heart of the GBHL and without their outstanding efforts we simply would not have the amazing community we have today nor be able to run the largest national league in the world.

TOing can sometimes feel like a thankless task yet just like the eye of Sauron the GBHL sees all, it’s gaze piercing gaming shops, hotels, community halls and flesh (maybe not that last one…). As well as offering support for TOs to run events we have done the following to recognise your fantastic efforts

We keep up to date a tracker of how many events TOs have won (how high are you in the rankings?) as well as tracking TOs who have run our largest events. We will use this data for the below awards so please contact us if you believe it is incorrect, we are happy to correct any mistakes.

TO RECORDS DOCUMENT CAN BE FOUND IN THE RANKINGS SHEET HERE

These will be rewarded with our special GBHL Glass Trophies at the GBHL Finale with a shout out for all the exceptional work they have done and then their achievements will be forever immortalised in this here hall of fame

Dave Reid & Chris Murfitt - 2025

Stalwarts of the Scottish SGB Community Dave and Chris have been part of the GBHL since it’s founding. Over the years they have both travelled across the breadth of the UK to support GBHL events as well as representing the GBHL on the international stage many times.

More than just attending events they have both personally supported and grown the Scottish community from humble beginnings into the thriving scene it is now. As part of that they run “The Scouring of Stirling” one of the GBHLs longest running and most successful events which has become a real pillar of the GBHL. Dave and Chris have used this to support various charities over the years raising thousands for great causes.

As if that wasn’t enough Dave Reid has given up countless hours of his time supporting the GBHL Committee over the past 8 years. Chris and Dave now live together in a little cottage on the banks of Loch Lomond.

Damian O’Byrne and Tom Harrison - 2024

Damian and Tom were not content with merely competing in the GBHL, running a truly fantastic cornerstone event (7 Stones) and helping run the GBHL (Tom was League Coordinator for 4 years). They have gone above and beyond, first with running the former GBHL YouTube channel helping to get thousands of players around the world into the hobby and they now continue to support the game with the incredible SBG Magazine.

The Drawn Combat Team - 2023

Storming onto the GBHL scene with their engaging blog posts the Drawn Combat Team quickly moved into running events and their flagship event “Valour Bowl” has led the way in using GBHL events to support charitable causes. Over they years they have raised thousands of pounds for causes such as the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Cancer Research UK and have really shown the positive impact GBHL events can have on the community. True heroes who bow to no one!

Mikolaj Bakalarz – 2023

The GBHL’s founder and its first League Coordinator. Simply put without Mik we would not have the GBHL today – it was his idea and efforts setting up the league in the early years that have allowed it to grown into the huge success for our game it is now. It is an achievement the GBHL had to recognise in it’s first GBHL Hero of Middle Earth award.
