Tourney Preview - Republic of the Shire

FEAR! FIRE! FOES! AWAKE!

So sounds the alarm call in the Shire when foul deeds and fell beings are on the borders of sleepy part of middle earth...

It's this part of Middle Earth which sees a whole event dedicated to it next month, in High Wycombe (between Oxford and London).

It's the first MESBG event being held by Tabletop Republic, and the guys behind it have come up with some fab ideas to get their local scene's first event off to a flying start.

The event is a one-dayer on June the 10th with three 500pt games and a relaxed schedule to allow for plenty of mingling, hobby admiration and complaining about dice related misfortune.

But the real spice of this event comes in its theme dedicated to The Scouring of the Shire. Rather than forcing players to bring only armies from The Shire or Sharkey's Rogues, the Tournament Organisers have relaxed the ally matrix to allow for Hobbits to join any good army (except for Old Bilbo - this happens after The Ring is destroyed after all!) and for any Evil army to be joined by any of Sharkey's Rogues...

I always think these kinds of thematic list building restrictions make for the most interesting events because it opens the door to such interesting & fun armies. For Instance, why not bring a Royal Entourage of Eowyn and Faramir to the Shire to find the newlyweds have to help their hobbity friends to victory? What about Radagast finding his way to Buckland on his Sleigh to help a horde of hobbits protect the Old Forest from Ruffians?

And on the evil side... Well, what mad concoctions can you come up with to assist Sharkey's 2+ transfix? Could you imagine a world where rather than Ringwraiths on Horses it was Fellbeasts and Ruffians roaming The Shire?

The possibilities are endless! Sadly the event has sold out for now, but it's well worth keeping an eye out for Nat Sinclair's future events if they're all this spicy! And of course, this could inspire you to add a bit of pepper to your next Event Pack!
