Outriders Bring News - King Abdicates!

In the next few months the Great British Hobbit League will be rolling into its new season, and with it, we need your help!

In short, we're looking for new volunteers to help make the biggest MESBG league in the world even better. Currently a fellowship of nine is on the GBHL Management committee, but elections are on the way, which will see a significant shakeup of who is in charge.

First of all, King of the League Alastair King has decided to hand on the baton as League Coordinator after 5 years. He's shepherded the league through incredible growth, been at the helm as regional leagues and the GBHL Team Rankings came into force as well as keeping it active during Covid. Ali will hopefully continue to grace the tabletops in the GBHL, and we thank him for his service.

But with a farewell comes an opportunity for new blood; there's space in this book for more chapters (plenty of them!), perhaps you would like to take up the mantle?

The other roles also up for election, include:

1. Rankings Officer (Spreadsheet Maestro)

2. Treasurer (Money Man*)

3. League Secretary (Rule enforcer & meeting minuter)

4. Marketing Officer (Word typer and Social Poster)

5. Event Coordinator (Calendar Wrangler)

6. Regional Reps for Scotland, NI & ROI; North England, Central, South East and South West Regions.

The elections will take place before the end of the year, and will begin with the League Coordinator, followed by other committee members. You may express interest for any of the above roles (or all of them!) but you will only be able to hold one.

Although there is "work", and a level of commitment involved, mostly it involves meeting up on zoom once a month with folk to have a good laugh and chat about the hobby and how we can make things better!
