It’s that time again — GBHL election season!
The Great British Hobbit League has grown into one of the biggest and most passionate gaming communities in the world, powered entirely by volunteers from within our ranks. Every two seasons, we open nominations for a new Management Committee — the team that keeps the League organised, fair, and thriving for everyone.
This is your chance to step up, get involved, and be the change you want to see in the GBHL.
Whether you’re a seasoned Tournament Organiser, a regular on the event circuit, or just someone who wants to give back to the community, we’d love to see new faces bringing fresh ideas to the table.
The GBHL Management Committee is made up of several key roles that help organise, communicate, and develop the League. Each one is essential — and each one needs passionate, community-minded players to make it thrive.
I'll take the opportunity now to thank all of the committee members who've given their time over the last two years (and many who've been in role for more than one election period), it can be a thankless task at times, but the time and dedication given is essential to keeping the league running for the good of the community. Though officially all members lose their role during the election period, it's worth noting that John Partridge (South East Rep) and Harry Parkhill (Media and Publicity Officer) won't be standing for re-election, so as a committee we thank them for their time dedicated to the league (maybe they'll return at a future date).
Key Dates:
Nominations open: 13th November
Nominations close: 28th November
Voting period: 29th November – 7th December
Results announced: 10th December
How to Nominate Yourself:
Think you’ve got what it takes to help steer the League for the next two seasons?
IMPORTANT – You may only nominate yourself, not other people. If you want to apply for multiple roles (highly recommended if you're passionate about being on the committee), please submit separate nominations for each role you wish to apply for.
You’ll need to include:
Your name and contact information
The position(s) you are standing for
A short manifesto explaining what you can bring to the role, relevant experience, your experience within the GBHL or wargaming community, and your ideas for the future
Nominations will close on Friday the 28th November, after which all submissions will be shared with the Tournament Organiser Committee before voting begins.

Voting Process:
Once nominations close, voting will open via a secure online form, with link released once Nominations have closed.
Each member of the GBHL Tournament Organiser Committee will have the opportunity to cast their vote for each position. Voting will remain open from 29th November to 7th December, and the results will be announced on 10th December here on the GBHL Blog and across our community channels.
If any TO Committee member is unable to access or use the voting form, they may instead submit their vote directly to the GBHL League Coordinator (Dewi Evans) via private message before the voting deadline.
GBHL Management Committee Roles:
Below are outlines of the descriptions and responsibilities for each Management Committee position. If you’re thinking of standing, make sure you read through what’s involved (and consider reading the official role summary in the GBHL Rules Document) — and don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of support from the rest of the team.
League Coordinator
The League Coordinator is responsible for updating and maintaining the League Rules, chairing discussions between Management Committee members, delegating tasks and co-ordinating the committee to improve the league.

They are one of two main points of contact for any Tournament Organiser wanting to hold an event, along with the Regional Representatives.

This person is responsible for communicating League results, changes to the way the League is run, notable events and promoting the League to existing and potential players. This includes regular updates to the GBHL Blog, including traditional Outrider Posts about recent league events.
Rankings Officer
This person updates the League Rankings following every GBHL event. They are responsible for acquring results and relevant information from Tournament Organisers. In addition, they will be responsible for maintaining and managing the publicly accessible League Rankings document. Rankings will aim to be updated every two weeks throughout the season.
Treasurer
This person collects payment from Tournament Organisers and is responsible for sourcing League prizes. They are also responsible for keeping a record of all income and outgoings for the League and creating an end-of-year statement.
Regional Representatives
There are five Regional Representatives who act as the first port of call for any player or Tournament Organiser wanting to communicate with the Management Committee. The current regions are Southeast, Southwest, Central, North England, and Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. These are responsible for helping Tournament Organisers and checking rules packs for regional events. They are one of two main points of contact for any Tournament Organiser wanting to hold an event, along with the Schedule Coordinator.
Get Involved
The GBHL thrives because of the people who give their time and energy to support it. Every tournament, every rankings update, every rule discussion happens thanks to volunteers who care deeply about our community.
